Snapshot of U.S. Role
Is there a danger that official Washington will become preoccupied with domestic scandal and neglect the real work of the U.S. in the world? Martin Walker of UPI offers the following snapshot (Chewing gum and walking) of the American foreign policy agenda in a time of scandal. Walker suggests that while the major media in the U.S. are indeed preoccupied with a high level scandal the work of diplomatic and military engagement with the rest of the world does go on. His commentary seems to have a definite political slant to it, but I think his summary of recent initiatives in instructive.
