Press Conference Text:Bush on Post-war Iraq, Hopes for Mideast and N. Ireland
The world has witnessed "the brutal desperation, the true character" of Saddam Hussein's regime and is also witnessing "the liberation and humanitarian aid our coalition is bringing to that country as a new day begins in Iraq," President Bush told reporters in Belfast. Bush spoke about the immediate post-war period in Iraq and also about peace efforts in Northern Ireland and the Middle East.

State: Powell Outlines Broad Agenda for U.S.-European Cooperation
Along with planning for reconstruction in Iraq, the United States remains focused on a broad international agenda ranging from the expansion of NATO to dealing with HIV/AIDS, Secretary of State Colin Powell said in a interview with European editors in Brussels on April 3. Powell stressed that U.S.-European relations remain strong because all nations understand and value the transatlantic partnership.
