
During his news conference (White House transcript) last night President Bush made a statement supporting his nominee to be the U.S. ambassador to the U.N. As you know, the nomination of John Bolton has been stalled in the Senate. New York Times op-ed columnist Thomas Friedman has some thoughts (The Best Man for the U.N.) on alternatives to Bolton. As you peruse that, let me leave you with a question to discuss: Should the American ambassador the U.N. be an American unilateralist or a multilateralist?
