U.S. Foreign Aid, Cont.
A few posts ago I mentioned the remarkable generosity the world was showing the U.S. in sending aid after Hurricane Katrina. If you were wondering who was contributing, and what they were sending to us, Foreign Policy has a full list (Ante Up For America): Panama offered bananas. Tsunami-ravaged Sri Lanka pledged $25,000. Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates each pledged $100 million. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, these are just a few examples of the overwhelming and sometimes surprising generosity of more than 90 countries around the world.
